A Complete History of the Witch

A HISTORY OF THE WITCH

From extraordinary stories to twisted realities, witches have been a longstanding symbol of wickedness. In the late 16th and early 17th centuries, however, their presence was not only imagined but affirmed: from highborn and commoners alike - none could deny that witchcraft had infiltrated society in an alarming fashion.

Legends of mysterious women with supernatural powers have been around since ancient times. These ‘witches’ were believed to be capable of manipulating the spiritual realms, conjuring up powerful spells and calling upon spirits for their own nefarious schemes. For centuries, they’ve been portrayed as wicked pagans devotedly serving Lucifer himself!

People throughout history have long been fascinated by the mysterious, mystical culture of witches. From natural healers to wise women whose remedies were often misinterpreted as sorcery, they remain an intriguing topic with a diverse style and philosophy that continues to captivate us today.

Let’s take a look at the different styles of witches you can be this Halloween!

SALEM WITCHES

A story rife with superstition and paranoia, the Salem witch trials have become legendary in their notoriety; more than two hundred people were accused of witchcraft during Colonial Massachusetts. Of those found guilty, nineteen unfortunate souls paid the ultimate price via hanging - truly one of history’s darkest chapters for these infamous magical beings!

PAGAN WITCHES

In the early 1900s, an ancient occult tradition was rediscovered by a group of daring English witches. Drawing upon their interpretations of historical texts from authors such as Margaret Murray and other renowned witch writers, these brave souls formed secretive covens that determinedly brought forth Wicca–a Pagan Witchcraft tradition with far-reaching implications in today’s spiritual landscape.

Throughout the ages, witches have been like potent symbols of fear and fascination. Wielding abilities in healing and magic long before these pursuits became accepted by society, they proudly embodied female power at a time when such was considered scandalous - creating pockets where judgement-free self-expression could flourish.

This Halloween season celebrate your inner witch with an outfit that brings out their most powerful side!

Embrace all you are capable of, as it may be much more than even you realize.

Until next time...
