Harry Potter Book Week Costume Ideas

THE MAGICAL WORLD OF HARRY POTTER

 

Book Week is upon us...

And we’re sure the question on everyone’s mind is can Harry Potter be a costume for Book Week? The answer to that is a big YES!

This year’s theme has given everyone the freedom to become anything they aspire to be… Even a witch or wizard at Hogwarts!

Come with us on a magical journey through the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry!

Gryffindor Costumes

The house of Godrick Gryffindor, with students who possessed characteristics that Godrick himself valued most! A house full of some of your favourite characters, who showed nerve, determination, chivalry, growth and most importantly courage. Characters that still inspire us to this day! Home to Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Neville Longbottom, Ginny, Fred, and George Weasley and of course Oliver Wood! And how could we forget some of the great witches and wizard’s that fought for Harry, Lilly and James Potter, Sirius Black, and Remus Lupin.

Hufflepuff Costumes

Helga Hufflepuff’s house was one that housed Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry’s hard working, dedicated, patient and loyal students. Some of our favourite Wizarding World characters we’re members of Hufflepuff… Do you know which ones? We won’t make you guess, they are Cedric Diggory, Nymphadora Tonks, and Professor Sprout.

Ravenclaw Costumes

The house of Rowena Ravenclaw, with wisdom, wit and an aptitude for learning as their main characteristics, Ravenclaw house was home to incredibly talented witches and wizards! Most notably, the quirky and brave, Luna Lovegood! She was accompanied by names such as Moaning Myrtle, Cho Chang, Padma Patil and Professor Trelawney.

Slytherin Costumes

Salazar Slytherin, a lot can be said for the students in this house, good and bad… The students in this house we’re resourceful, ambitious, cunning, and showed leadership, some even a great deal of growth and inspiration in the later books. A house that was once home to Lord Voldemort, but also housed the likes of Draco Malfoy and Severus Snape. In the years after the Battle of Hogwarts, Slytherin house even became home to Albus Severus Potter, the middle child of Harry and Ginny!

Magical Harry Potter Character Costumes

The Harry Potter series was also home to some very magical characters, some of them good and some of them bad, but most of all they we’re memorable! With the likes of Professor McGonagallDumbledoreRubeus Hagrid, Death Eaters, Lucius Malfoy, Bellatrix Lestrange, from Fantastic Beasts, Magizoologist, Newt Scamander! and even Dobby the Elf!

Harry Potter Accessories

Of course, we can’t forget the bits and pieces that bring our Harry Potter costumes together! Harry Potter accessories are a must have with any magical costume, items like wands for practicing spells! Hedwig the owl, to deliver mail. House scarfs, socks, ties and even a Nimbus 2000 if you feel like playing a game of Quidditch!
